- He asked you which Tom.

- I don't know Tom's last name.

494

00:
40:49,398 -- 00:40:51,514

He's on the top floor.

How many Toms are there?

495

00:
40:51,678 -- 00:40:52,952

How'd you get in here?

496

00:
40:53,118 -- 00:40:55,268

He gave me the keys. Look. See this?

497

00:
40:55,438 -- 00:40:57,747

He gave me the keys and I let myself in.

498

00:
40:58,358 -- 00:41:01,794

Sorry, but there have been

about eight break-ins here just last week.

499

00:
41:01,958 -- 00:41:06,554

Okay, I'm sorry, all right.

I didn't know that.

500

00:
41:07,638 -- 00:41:10,072

MAN:
Hey, we gonna hit RadioShack

tonight, man?

501

00:
41:10,278 -- 00:41:12,314

PEPE:
Wait till next week.

New models come in.

502

00:
41:12,478 -- 00:41:14,434

Hey! Where'd you get that?

503

00:
41:42,558 -- 00:41:44,549

[BUZZING]

504

00:
41:44,878 -- 00:41:46,470

PAUL:

Kiki! God, what happened?

505

00:
41:47,838 -- 00:41:51,148

Just throw down the keys.

Throw it. Be careful.

506

00:
41:52,678 -- 00:41:55,715

That's right. Give it a good throw.

There you go.

507

00:
42:04,758 -- 00:42:06,237

Hold on, Kiki.

508

00:
42:07,798 -- 00:42:09,436

Bastards!

509

00:
42:10,878 -- 00:42:12,630

What have they done?

510

00:
42:14,118 -- 00:42:16,029

What are these guys, sailors?

Look at this.

511

00:
42:16,198 -- 00:42:18,996

It's so elaborate.

Must've taken them hours.

512

00:
42:19,198 -- 00:42:21,632

- How'd they get in?

- How did who get in?

513

00:
42:21,838 -- 00:42:25,035

- The burglars.

- The burglars? What burglars?

514

00:
42:25,198 -- 00:42:27,792

The ones who took your sculpture

and your TV set.

515

00:
42:28,318 -- 00:42:29,956

God.

516

00:
42:31,838 -- 00:42:33,237

- Neil and Pepe?

- Who?

517

00:
42:33,398 -- 00:42:35,468

It was Neil and Pepe.

They're friends of mine.

518

00:
42:35,638 -- 00:42:37,913

I just sold them my television

for 300 bucks.

519

00:
42:38,118 -- 00:42:39,870

How did you get ahold of my sculpture?

520

00:
42:40,038 -- 00:42:41,357

[DOOR SQUEAKS]

521

00:
42:41,518 -- 00:42:45,193

[FOOTSTEPS APPROACHING]

522

00:
42:52,918 -- 00:42:55,352

- This the guy?

KIKl:
Yeah.

523

00:
42:56,798 -- 00:42:58,197

I'm Horst.

524

00:
42:59,678 -- 00:43:02,146

I'm Paul. Hi.

525

00:
43:11,598 -- 00:43:13,873

That was rude of you before, Paul.

526

00:
43:14,918 -- 00:43:17,307

You really ought to be

ashamed of yourself.

527

00:
43:17,758 -- 00:43:19,191

I am.

528

00:
43:20,638 -- 00:43:23,232

I don't know what could have

come over me.

529

00:
43:24,918 -- 00:43:26,715

Lack of discipline.

530

00:
43:27,358 -- 00:43:29,030

Possibly.

531

00:
43:29,918 -- 00:43:33,228

Well, it's not too late to finish

what you started.

532

00:
43:33,438 -- 00:43:36,430

PAUL:

Marcy, it's Paul.

533

00:
43:36,598 -- 00:43:37,917

[KNOCKING]

534

00:
43:44,718 -- 00:43:46,117

Hi.

535

00:
43:49,158 -- 00:43:51,547

Listen, I owe you an apology.

536

00:
43:52,638 -- 00:43:56,551

There's just no excuse for leaving

the way I did. And I'm sorry.

537

00:
43:57,038 -- 00:43:58,869

You know, I just figured...

538

00:
44:00,158 -- 00:44:02,547

...it's not working out between us...

539

00:
44:02,718 -- 00:44:06,791

...and, hell, I'll never see you again.

You know, there's just no excuse.

540

00:
44:08,118 -- 00:44:10,712

I think I just got a little spooked,

you know?

541

00:
44:11,238 -- 00:44:15,026

With that story about your husband

and your boyfriend.

542

00:
44:15,198 -- 00:44:17,029

I mean, that was really weird.

543

00:
44:17,398 -- 00:44:19,036

What was that all about?

544

00:
44:20,358 -- 00:44:24,351

And I gathered there's something...

545

00:
44:25,918 -- 00:44:29,035

...wrong, or you have

some burns or something...

546

00:
44:29,198 -- 00:44:31,587

...and I just couldn't handle that.

547

00:
44:31,758 -- 00:44:34,636

I'm sorry.

I don't know what happened to me.

548

00:
44:36,878 -- 00:44:40,029

I don't know. Maybe the timing's

just off or something...

549

00:
44:43,918 -- 00:44:45,988

...but I think I just better go.

550

00:
44:47,918 -- 00:44:49,271

Okay?

551

00:
44:51,198 -- 00:44:52,677

Marcy?

552

00:
44:54,678 -- 00:44:56,270

Marcy.

553

00:
44:57,358 -- 00:44:58,711

What...

554

00:
45:04,798 -- 00:45:06,993

PAUL:

Oh, Jesus! Marcy.

555

00:
45:07,518 -- 00:45:09,986

Oh, God! Breathe. Breathe.

556

00:
45:10,278 -- 00:45:13,634

Kiki! Kiki! Come on.

557

00:
45:15,358 -- 00:45:16,871

Oh, Jesus!

558

00:
45:21,598 -- 00:45:23,031

God...!

559

00:
45:23,638 -- 00:45:25,276

Think.

560

00:
45:27,798 -- 00:45:30,392

Ow! Kiki! Kiki!

561

00:
45:30,598 -- 00:45:32,714

Kiki! Horst!

562

00:
45:34,718 -- 00:45:37,596

KIKl:
i"Paul and Marcy, Horst and I

iwent to Club Berlin for drinks./i

563

00:
45:37,758 -- 00:45:40,556

iJoin us if you feel up to it./i

iCorner West Broadway and Grand./i

564

00:
45:40,718 -- 00:45:41,707

iSee you! Kiki. "

565

00:
45:42,238 -- 00:45:43,717

PAUL:

Sh*t.

566

00:
45:46,238 -- 00:45:48,035

Operator, give me the police.

567

00:
45:48,438 -- 00:45:50,110

Yes, I wanna report a death.

568

00:
45:56,918 -- 00:45:58,510

Oh, God.

569

00:
46:51,078 -- 00:46:52,670

Oh, no.

570

00:
47:18,638 -- 00:47:20,788

[THUNDERING]

571

00:
47:27,838 -- 00:47:30,989

JULIE:
Hey, it's me.

I did it. I quit my job.

572

00:
47:31,158 -- 00:47:32,477

What do you want me to do?

573

00:
47:32,638 -- 00:47:35,198

Let's go have a drink. Celebrate.

Pier Three is open.

574

00:
47:35,358 -- 00:47:37,076

I don't know what your problem is...

575

00:
47:37,238 -- 00:47:41,151

...but I've gotta get over to that bar,

get my keys, so I can get home.

576

00:
47:44,878 -- 00:47:46,152

Oh, look at this.

577

00:
47:47,478 -- 00:47:48,593

JULIE:

Huh.

578

00:
47:49,358 -- 00:47:51,235

Now what?

579

00:
47:51,398 -- 00:47:53,195

PAUL:

This is incredible.

580

00:
47:54,198 -- 00:47:55,916

Where the hell is he?

581

00:
47:56,958 -- 00:48:00,473

You know, I live across the street.

Would you like a TV dinner?

582

00:
48:03,518 -- 00:48:07,306

Oh, wait a minute! Neil, Pepe!

Wait a minute! I didn't know!

583

00:
48:07,478 -- 00:48:09,309

It's that dude again.

Get out of here.

584

00:
48:09,478 -- 00:48:11,196

PAUL:

I didn't know.

585

00:
48:12,078 -- 00:48:13,830

I didn't know.

586

00:
48:17,078 -- 00:48:18,636

I've had enough, God.

587

00:
48:19,678 -- 00:48:21,031

JULIE:

My place?

588

00:
48:21,238 -- 00:48:23,468

[THE MONKEES'

"LAST TRAIN TO CLARKSVILLE" PLAYS]

589

00:
48:24,398 -- 00:48:26,070

You like The Monkees?

590

00:
48:29,958 -- 00:48:31,630

What's your name?

591

00:
48:31,838 -- 00:48:33,112

Julie.

592

00:
48:40,918 -- 00:48:42,237

I'm Paul.

593

00:
48:42,438 -- 00:48:44,429

Rough night, huh, Paul?

594

00:
48:44,638 -- 00:48:46,788

You look depressed.

595

00:
48:47,478 -- 00:48:50,709

I came downtown tonight...

596

00:
48:52,238 -- 00:48:54,035

Oh, God.

597

00:
48:54,398 -- 00:48:57,515

I didn't even know...

Joseph Minion

Joseph Minion (born 1957 in Teaneck, New Jersey) is an American film director and screenwriter, best known for Martin Scorsese's After Hours (1985). Born in New Jersey in 1957, Minion briefly attended NYU Film School before finishing his studies at Columbia University, then renowned for its screenwriting program. In 1984, Minion's script for After Hours was optioned by Griffin Dunne and Amy Robinson, the latter a former actress who'd appeared as Harvey Keitel's damaged girlfriend in Scorsese's Mean Streets (1973). Robinson sent Minion's screenplay to Scorsese, whose Last Temptation of Christ had recently fallen through; production on After Hours started shortly afterward. Later, it surfaced that Minion had plagiarized portions of After Hours from radio host Joe Frank, who sued and settled for an undisclosed sum.Minion continued his screenwriting career with 1987's Julia and Julia starring Kathleen Turner; 1989's Vampire's Kiss, starring Nicolas Cage; Motorama (1991); and On the Run (1999). He also worked again with Martin Scorsese in 1986 for an episode of Amazing Stories, "Mirror, Mirror".As a director, Minion made his debut for producer Roger Corman with 1987's Daddy's Boys, said to have been thrown together at the last minute to make use of standing sets for Big Bad Mama II. His last outing as director was for another low-budget feature, Trafficking (1999). more…
