[The group continues trick-or-treating for a while longer, collecting more treats and having fun. The next day, they all audition for The Wizard of Oz school play.]

Bader:
“I’m not sure I’m ready for this, guys. I’ve never done anything like this before.”

Caleb j:
“Just relax, Bader. You’ll do great.”

Everleigh:
“Yeah, have fun with it! That’s the most important thing.”

[The audition starts, and everyone sings “Total Eclipse of the Heart,” but the voices aren’t very good. When it’s Bader’s turn, he sings the song perfectly, and the woman casting the play is impressed.]

Casting woman:
“Wow, Bader, your voice is really good! Have you ever done any singing before?”

Bader:
“Not really, no. I’m just doing this for fun.”

Casting woman:
“Well, I think you have what it takes to be Dorothy. How do you feel about that?”

Bader:
“no no I-.”

[Tashi interrupts, screaming at Bader.]

Tashi:
“No! He can’t be Dorothy! He got suspended from school safety patrol, how can you trust him for the lead role in the play?! I am Dorothy! I am! My mom is the president of PTA! She will ruin your life!”

Casting woman:
“Well, Bader does have a good voice, but I see your point, Tashi. Bader, maybe you could play a tree or something?”

Bader:
“A tree? No way!”

Scott:
“But we get to throw apples at Tashi!”

[Bader begins to feel a little confused, but eventually agrees to take the role of the tree.]

Scott:
Haven’t you seen the movie?

Bader:
“Okay, I’ll do it. Why not?”

[The audition comes to an end, and Bader feels a little disappointed, but he knows that he’ll still have fun in the school play no matter what role he has to play.]

[Bader, dressed as a tree, stands on stage with two other trees. They sing their lines, “We three trees, we dream of greener pastures.” Suddenly, the stage begins to sink beneath their feet.]

Slim Z:
“This is going on YouTube!”

[Bader and the other two trees look around in panic, as the stage sinks lower and lower. The audience starts to laugh, but Bader feels embarrassed.]

Bader:
“This is a disaster! We’re ruining the play!”

[Suddenly, Bader spots someone from the audience recording the play. He feels even more embarrassed.]

Bader:
“Oh no, someone’s filming this. My parents are going to see it!”

[Tashi, who is in the audience, starts to yell at Bader.]

Tashi:
“Sing, Bader! Don’t make me beat you up again!”

[Bader, feeling angry and frustrated, picks up an apple and throws it at Tashi. She catches it and throws it back.]

Bader:
“Come on, Tashi, let’s do this!”

[Tashi catches another apple and throws it at Bader, who catches it and throws it back. Soon, an apple fight breaks out between the two of them, as the play continues to go wrong.]

Slim Z:
“Guys, This is amazing!”

Bader:
“Right, sorry. Let’s get back to our lines.”

[The three trees start to sing again, trying to salvage what’s left of the play. Even though things have gone wrong, they keep going, determined to finish the play as best they can.]

[The audience cheers, applauding the actors for their performance despite the mishaps. Bader feels a sense of relief and satisfaction, knowing that they did their best.]

[Bader and Caleb are playing video games in Bader’s room. As they’re playing, and bader said that he overHeard some girls in the hallway talking.]

Girl 1:
“Did you see Bryce Anderson in math class today? His butt looks so cute in those jeans!”

Girl 2:
“Oh my gosh, I know right? I only wish I could touch it.”

[Bader and Caleb glance at each other, looking perplexed.]

Bader:
“ some girls can be strange like today I heard girls saying the hallway saying that Bryce Anderson has a cute butt what does that even mean ?”

Caleb:
“I don’t know, man. A butt can’t be cute, it’s a butt.”

INT. BADER'S GARAGE - DAY

Bader and Caleb are in the garage. Caleb is admiring his Joshie bike while Bader is tinkering with an engine.

Bader:
What is that?

Joshie? The one who sings those kid songs?

Caleb:
(defensive) Hey, Joshie is legit. And I discovered him, you know.

Bader:
(sarcastic) Oh really? That's amazing.

Caleb:
Yeah, he's all about spreading positivity and good vibes. Like, he always says, "Respect your parents and follow your dreams."

Bader:
(rolling his eyes) Right. Well, I hate to break it to you, but Joshie's fans are six-year-old girls.

Caleb:
(annoyed) You're just jealous that I'm the one who discovered him.

Bader looks over and spots Bryce Anderson walking by.

Bader:
(excitedly) Yo, Bryce! What's up, man?

Caleb:
Yeah hey Bryce cute butt.

Bryce turns red and walks away quickly. Bader is annoyed at Caleb.

Bader:
(angrily) Caleb, come on! You can't just say stuff like that!

Caleb:
(apologetic) Sorry, man.

Bader:
(sighs) Look, I just want you to be cool. You don't have to pretend to be someone you're not. You're my best friend, and that's all that matters.

Caleb:
(smiling) Thanks, man. Sorry about the bike.

Bader:
(smiling back) It's all good. Just don't pretend to be someone you're not.

[Bader and Caleb both go their separate ways, with Bader feeling a little embarrassed about what happened, but also feeling amused. He knows that sometimes, it’s better to just keep your thoughts to yourself.]

[It’s the last day of the school year, and the students have gathered in the classroom to receive their class favorites awards. Tashi, the class troublemaker, is handing out yearbooks. Bader waits patiently for his yearbook.]

Tashi:
“Congratulations, Caleb, you’re the most popular boy in the class.”

Caleb:
“Cool, thanks, Tashi.”

Tashi:
“And Everleigh, you’re the prettiest girl in the class.”

Everleigh:
“Aw, thank you, Tashi!”

[Tashi then throws Bader’s yearbook on the ground in front of him.]

Tashi:
“Here you go, Bader. Pick it up yourself.”

Bader:
“What’s your problem, Tashi? Why are you always picking on me?”

Tashi:
“I just don’t like you, okay? You think you’re so smart, but you’re really not.”

Bader:
“Actually, I am smarter than you, Tashi. I got a better grade point average than you did.”

[Tashi rolls her eyes and walks away, ignoring Bader. Caleb and Everleigh start to laugh at the whole situation.]

Caleb:
“Dude, that was hilarious. You really got her mad!”

Everleigh:
“Yeah, and you’re definitely smarter than her. Don’t let her get to you.”

[Bader picks up his yearbook and opens it up, seeing all the signatures and messages from his classmates. He sees that a lot of them have written nice things about him, and he feels proud and content.]

Bader:
“Thanks, guys. You always know how to make me feel better. Let’s go have a great summer!”

INT. BADER’S ROOM - DAY (NOTEBOOK STYLE)

[The camera focuses on Bader, sitting at his desk in his bedroom.]

Bader:
“Well, that’s a wrap, folks. Another school year in the books. My goal was to make it to class favorites, and I did. But, let me tell you, it wasn’t easy. You really have to work hard for it.”

[Caleb and Everleigh enter the room, saying “Zoo wee mama!” in unison.]
