Crossover Page #4

Synopsis: A naturally talented basketball player, Noah Cruise is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship to UCLA pre-med, rather than succumb to the lure of former sports agent Vaughn and go for the NBA. His best friend, the buddy that took the fall for him and did the time for an assault charge, Tech, also an outstanding basketball player, has less lofty ambitions: he wants to get his GED and win an underground street ball game against his arrogant rival, Jewelz. Their lives change drastically when they both fall in love with two local girls, Vanessa Lilly and Eboni Jackson, and take fateful trip out to L.A. together.

- Oh, my God! You were there?

283

00:
23:43,452 -- 00:23:46,615

My team, Enemy of the State,

was running against Platinum.

284

00:
23:46,688 -- 00:23:48,315

I didn't see you.

285

00:
23:49,458 -- 00:23:51,483

- I'm Tech.

- Eboni.

286

00:
23:52,060 -- 00:23:54,620

- Nice to meet you, Eboni.

- Likewise.

287

00:
23:56,331 -- 00:23:57,423

So, what can I do for you?

288

00:
23:57,499 -- 00:24:00,627

Well, some friends of mine

are having this tattoo party tonight,

289

00:
24:00,702 -- 00:24:02,761

and I was wondering

if I could leave these flyers here?

290

00:
24:02,838 -- 00:24:04,669

Say word? Put them wherever you want.

291

00:
24:04,740 -- 00:24:08,801

Okay. You know you should come through.

It's going to be really nice.

292

00:
24:09,311 -- 00:24:12,747

- Are you going to be there?

- Yeah, I could put your name on the list.

293

00:
24:12,815 -- 00:24:14,578

Then I might have to make that happen.

294

00:
24:14,650 -- 00:24:16,584

Hey. Yo, we gave them

the business last night.

295

00:
24:16,652 -- 00:24:18,745

- Yeah, we showed up.

- Hey, y'all, check this.

296

00:
24:18,821 -- 00:24:21,289

Hey, get what y'all wanna get.

Everything's on me.

297

00:
24:21,356 -- 00:24:23,187

- Cool.

- You got to get that?

298

00:
24:23,258 -- 00:24:26,421

Hey, let me get these

in a 10 and a half, all colors.

299

00:
24:26,495 -- 00:24:29,123

- Make that real simple.

- Yeah.

300

00:
24:32,134 -- 00:24:33,362

Jewelz.

301

00:
24:34,570 -- 00:24:35,764

Tech.

302

00:
24:36,705 -- 00:24:40,232

Is that you? I didn't know you worked here.

303

00:
24:40,309 -- 00:24:44,302

This is so cool, because you're about

to come up on some serious commission.

304

00:
24:44,379 -- 00:24:45,437

Yo, check this.

305

00:
24:45,514 -- 00:24:50,247

After that spanking we gave y'all last night,

the honeys been blowing me up.

306

00:
24:50,319 -- 00:24:53,413

- I wanna look right for them.

- Well, good for you.

307

00:
25:03,966 -- 00:25:06,799

Look, this thing is not working, man,

so I gotta do it on the calculator.

308

00:
25:06,869 -- 00:25:09,360

Count the paper I'm about to spend.

309

00:
25:11,173 -- 00:25:13,573

You know what? Forget that.

Add it up in your head.

310

00:
25:13,642 -- 00:25:16,577

My brother's girlfriend's sister

said you were in that GED class with her,

311

00:
25:16,645 -- 00:25:18,840

so I know you've got it down.

312

00:
25:20,916 -- 00:25:22,008

So...

313

00:
25:23,385 -- 00:25:25,080

$125...

314

00:
25:26,822 -- 00:25:29,450

- $35...

- Don't forget this.

315

00:
25:34,296 -- 00:25:35,729

$125...

316

00:
25:35,797 -- 00:25:39,426

Come on, man. What?

You don't know how to add or what not?

317

00:
25:39,835 -- 00:25:41,359

Yo, I got this.

318

00:
25:44,606 -- 00:25:46,233

All right, let's see what we've got.

319

00:
25:46,308 -- 00:25:49,300

$125, $35, $20...

320

00:
25:49,378 -- 00:25:51,403

That'll be $186.99.

321

00:
25:51,880 -- 00:25:54,405

Oh, wait a minute. I forgot the tax.

322

00:
25:55,951 -- 00:25:59,148

You know what? Forget that. I'm good.

323

00:
25:59,221 -- 00:26:02,657

No, you only think you're good.

I proved that to you last night.

324

00:
26:02,724 -- 00:26:07,559

Oh, yeah? But this isn't horseshoes.

This is street ball.

325

00:
26:07,629 -- 00:26:10,928

You want to know who the winner is?

Count your paper at the end of the game.

326

00:
26:10,999 -- 00:26:13,524

You and your man came up short.

327

00:
26:13,602 -- 00:26:16,969

Got me messed up. Hey, man, we out.

328

00:
26:36,525 -- 00:26:38,891

Yeah, but sure, you can't

let that cat Jewelz get to you, man.

329

00:
26:38,961 -- 00:26:42,362

Forget Jewelz, man.

I'm worried about this GED test, man.

330

00:
26:42,431 -- 00:26:45,264

- Christine, you got the usual for us?

- Yeah. $8.76.

331

00:
26:45,334 -- 00:26:47,063

Please, it's on me.

332

00:
26:47,869 -- 00:26:49,632

No, we're good.

333

00:
26:49,705 -- 00:26:51,468

Yo, Vaughn, what's up, man?

334

00:
26:51,540 -- 00:26:54,634

I didn't see you as the type of cat

that would be down here slumming with us.

335

00:
26:54,710 -- 00:26:56,405

I don't slum, bro.

336

00:
26:59,615 -- 00:27:00,980

So what you here for then?

337

00:
27:01,049 -- 00:27:03,677

Calm down now,

and get your panties out your ass.

338

00:
27:03,752 -- 00:27:06,778

I'm not here because you brought a ringer

to my game.

339

00:
27:06,855 -- 00:27:08,823

I dropped the pointspread,

but I made out all right.

340

00:
27:08,890 -- 00:27:10,357

Look, he's not a ringer, man.

341

00:
27:10,425 -- 00:27:12,655

Don't talk to me like I'm other people, Tech.

342

00:
27:12,728 -- 00:27:15,993

That is Noah Cruise,

point guard for Pershing.

343

00:
27:16,064 -- 00:27:18,726

Named Mr. Basketball

by The Associated Press.

344

00:
27:18,800 -- 00:27:20,324

Yeah. So I guess that's why we lost.

345

00:
27:20,402 -- 00:27:23,303

No, I guess you lost

because of a serious lack of character.

346

00:
27:23,372 -- 00:27:26,034

Character? Yeah, right.

347

00:
27:27,976 -- 00:27:29,773

Damn right I'm right.

348

00:
27:30,278 -- 00:27:32,803

You wanna blame somebody?

Look in the mirror.

349

00:
27:32,881 -- 00:27:34,212

Oh, you're a technician.

350

00:
27:34,282 -- 00:27:38,343

Yeah, see, you've got that little spin

and the crossover, and the off-the-foot,

351

00:
27:38,420 -- 00:27:40,980

the off-the-elbow,

you got the stop-and-breathe,

352

00:
27:41,056 -- 00:27:42,318

the entire package.

353

00:
27:42,391 -- 00:27:45,986

Except you don't have the character

nor the discipline to be a team ball player.

354

00:
27:46,061 -- 00:27:49,394

- And Jewelz got character?

- But Jewelz got greed on his side.

355

00:
27:49,464 -- 00:27:52,524

See, Jewelz loves money too much

to let you win.

356

00:
27:52,968 -- 00:27:56,404

So much that he even gave up

the winning shot because he understands

357

00:
27:56,471 -- 00:27:59,668

that it is not about the points,

it is about the game.

358

00:
27:59,741 -- 00:28:03,541

Now, your man Cruise here,

that brother got fundamentals.

359

00:
28:03,612 -- 00:28:07,309

See, that's the difference between

street asphalt and NBA hardwood.

360

00:
28:07,382 -- 00:28:10,180

You know what? I've lost my appetite, man.

Let's go back to work.

361

00:
28:10,252 -- 00:28:12,584

Oh, you lost your appetite for the NBA?

362

00:
28:12,654 -- 00:28:16,351

- Look, I ain't interested, all right?

- You ain't interested?

363

00:
28:17,092 -- 00:28:19,458

That is every black boy's dream.

364

00:
28:20,662 -- 00:28:23,859

And I guess you are gonna be the one

to give me the dream.

365

00:
28:23,932 -- 00:28:25,832

For a small percentage, right?

366

00:
28:25,901 -- 00:28:27,869

Yeah, you know how to talk the talk.

367

00:
28:27,936 -- 00:28:31,303

Ran into a whole lot of slick cats like you

in my sophomore year.

368

00:
28:31,373 -- 00:28:34,433

Promised me the stars,

and the moon as a bonus.
