Crossover Page #3

Synopsis: A naturally talented basketball player, Noah Cruise is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship to UCLA pre-med, rather than succumb to the lure of former sports agent Vaughn and go for the NBA. His best friend, the buddy that took the fall for him and did the time for an assault charge, Tech, also an outstanding basketball player, has less lofty ambitions: he wants to get his GED and win an underground street ball game against his arrogant rival, Jewelz. Their lives change drastically when they both fall in love with two local girls, Vanessa Lilly and Eboni Jackson, and take fateful trip out to L.A. together.

00:
17:10,793 -- 00:17:12,954

I thought Joe was gonna take care of that.

195

00:
17:13,029 -- 00:17:14,519

Joe's in jail.

196

00:
17:15,464 -- 00:17:17,227

What happened?

197

00:
17:17,633 -- 00:17:20,602

They say he robbed a liquor store

or something.

198

00:
17:20,669 -- 00:17:23,399

Whatever, he didn't pay the light bill.

199

00:
17:25,708 -- 00:17:27,107

I made some extra cash,

200

00:
17:27,176 -- 00:17:31,078

so, I'll take care of the lights tomorrow

before I go to class.

201

00:
17:37,653 -- 00:17:39,280

You're a good son.

202

00:
17:40,322 -- 00:17:42,916

I don't know what I'd do without you.

203

00:
17:50,566 -- 00:17:52,466

I'm gonna go next door to Miss Waters,

204

00:
17:52,535 -- 00:17:55,629

see if she'll let us put these groceries

in her fridge.

205

00:
17:55,704 -- 00:17:57,968

You do that. I'm going to bed.

206

00:
18:14,657 -- 00:18:15,885

Hey, Ma'Dere.

207

00:
18:15,958 -- 00:18:17,823

How did your class go, baby?

208

00:
18:17,893 -- 00:18:19,986

Good. What are you doing still up?

209

00:
18:20,062 -- 00:18:23,554

You know I can't shut my eyes knowing

you're out there on that motorcycle.

210

00:
18:23,632 -- 00:18:25,463

I don't know

why I bought that thing for you.

211

00:
18:25,534 -- 00:18:27,365

It's gonna be the death of you!

212

00:
18:27,436 -- 00:18:28,630

Oh, come on, now.

213

00:
18:28,704 -- 00:18:32,140

You bought it for me because you love me,

you love me so much.

214

00:
18:32,208 -- 00:18:34,335

Give me some sugar, woman.

215

00:
18:36,645 -- 00:18:38,943

- Got some mail.

- Oh, yeah?

216

00:
18:40,983 -- 00:18:44,111

- I'm gonna lay it down. Sleep tight, baby.

- Okay.

217

00:
18:46,055 -- 00:18:50,014

Don't stay up too late.

You know you gotta work in the morning.

218

00:
18:54,430 -- 00:18:55,727

Yeah.

219

00:
19:22,691 -- 00:19:24,522

- Hey, Tech, what's up, man?

- What's up?

220

00:
19:24,593 -- 00:19:26,026

I got one for you.

221

00:
19:26,095 -- 00:19:29,030

Who was the first 76er

to become rookie of the year?

222

00:
19:29,098 -- 00:19:32,033

- You got to do better than that.

- Who was it?

223

00:
19:32,868 -- 00:19:36,531

- Your favorite player, Allen lverson.

- Wrong.

224

00:
19:36,605 -- 00:19:41,372

I like A.I.'s crossover,

but Isiah Thomas is my favorite player.

225

00:
19:41,443 -- 00:19:43,468

Deep from the "D".

226

00:
19:43,546 -- 00:19:45,013

But am I right?

227

00:
19:45,080 -- 00:19:47,674

All right, I'll give you...

I'll give you half a point for that one.

228

00:
19:47,750 -- 00:19:50,184

- Hey, you wanna run one real quick?

- I can't, man. I'm late.

229

00:
19:50,252 -- 00:19:51,310

Well, can I go with you?

230

00:
19:51,387 -- 00:19:53,548

Look, aren't you supposed to be in school

or something, man?

231

00:
19:53,622 -- 00:19:56,489

- This is summertime. School out.

- Damn.

232

00:
19:57,459 -- 00:20:01,225

- Well, can we run one later?

- Yeah. Later.

233

00:
20:11,907 -- 00:20:13,704

- You're late.

- Look, I'm sorry, man.

234

00:
20:13,776 -- 00:20:16,506

I had to pay the light bill for my mom's.

235

00:
20:20,883 -- 00:20:23,215

You're trying my patience, Tech.

236

00:
20:23,619 -- 00:20:25,610

Now, they gave you the mornings off

237

00:
20:25,688 -- 00:20:29,556

so you can get that GED thing,

so you can improve yourself.

238

00:
20:29,625 -- 00:20:34,460

Because you need improvement.

So you can improve and get here on time.

239

00:
20:34,897 -- 00:20:36,831

Look, I'm sorry, man. It won't happen again.

240

00:
20:36,899 -- 00:20:38,491

Oh, I know it won't happen again.

241

00:
20:38,567 -- 00:20:40,728

Just so you know, in case it does,

242

00:
20:40,803 -- 00:20:43,363

you're gonna find yourself on the outside

looking in, bro.

243

00:
20:43,439 -- 00:20:45,805

Improved or not.

244

00:
20:45,874 -- 00:20:49,275

It won't, dawg. All right? I promise.

245

00:
20:50,446 -- 00:20:52,107

Get out there and go to work, boy.

246

00:
20:53,515 -- 00:20:55,676

What up, dawg superstar?

247

00:
20:55,751 -- 00:21:01,656

Got my confirmation for the orientation

at California University of Los Angeles.

248

00:
21:01,724 -- 00:21:06,127

- Congratulations, dawg. I'm proud of you.

- Thanks, man.

249

00:
21:06,195 -- 00:21:08,459

Hey, check it.

I get two tickets to the orientation.

250

00:
21:08,530 -- 00:21:11,499

And you know Ma'Dere ain't about to get

on a plane, so if you wanna roll...

251

00:
21:11,567 -- 00:21:13,194

You ain't even gotta ask me twice.

252

00:
21:13,269 -- 00:21:16,363

Then it's on and popping, man.

You and me in L. A?

253

00:
21:16,438 -- 00:21:18,736

- Well, she's not ready.

- Please.

254

00:
21:19,074 -- 00:21:22,703

- What's that?

- I'm caking you out for last night's game.

255

00:
21:22,778 -- 00:21:24,609

Oh, no, man. Keep it.

256

00:
21:25,281 -- 00:21:27,715

Man, this is $1,000 cash. Real money.

257

00:
21:27,783 -- 00:21:31,082

Come on, man.

You know I didn't do it for the money.

258

00:
21:31,587 -- 00:21:36,490

Look, Tech, as long as I've known you,

you've always had my back.

259

00:
21:37,026 -- 00:21:40,928

Especially after Mom's died and I had

to move across town with Ma'Dere.

260

00:
21:40,996 -- 00:21:43,590

Thanks a lot, man. I appreciate it.

261

00:
21:44,433 -- 00:21:46,867

Hey, look. I'm about to go to the bathroom.

Hold it down.

262

00:
21:46,935 -- 00:21:48,402

Go pinch that loaf, dawg.

263

00:
21:48,470 -- 00:21:50,335

- Please.

- I've got your back.

264

00:
21:55,344 -- 00:21:59,872

The white zone is for immediate loading

and unloading of passengers only.

265

00:
21:59,948 -- 00:22:03,907

- So you got everything?

- Yeah. I think so.

266

00:
22:04,553 -- 00:22:06,714

So you figure out the answer

to your question?

267

00:
22:06,789 -- 00:22:10,919

I knew I wanted to be with you

when I met you in L.A. 10 years ago.

268

00:
22:11,126 -- 00:22:13,720

So when am I going to see you again?

269

00:
22:13,796 -- 00:22:17,288

When you get your butt on a plane

and move to L.A.,

270

00:
22:17,366 -- 00:22:19,357

make an honest woman out of me.

271

00:
22:19,435 -- 00:22:22,768

So you want me to give up everything

I've built here?

272

00:
22:23,339 -- 00:22:28,333

I'll tell you like my dad told me.

"A fast horse don't run long."

273

00:
22:28,410 -- 00:22:33,643

It's not about the run, Nikki.

It's about being able to be in the race.

274

00:
22:34,183 -- 00:22:37,016

It's also about what you're trying to win.

275

00:
23:04,780 -- 00:23:05,974

Yeah!

276

00:
23:18,193 -- 00:23:19,558

Excuse me?

277

00:
23:22,097 -- 00:23:24,395

Oh, snap.

278

00:
23:26,802 -- 00:23:28,497

I probably look real stupid, huh?

279

00:
23:28,570 -- 00:23:32,836

No, I'm not even laughing at you.

You know, getting my Mary J. Blige on.

280

00:
23:32,908 -- 00:23:34,432

Okay. Okay.

281

00:
23:34,510 -- 00:23:38,310

I was into Ice Cube,

so, today was a good day.

282

00:
23:40,249 -- 00:23:43,377

- Weren't you at Vaughn's last night?
