Crossover Page #6

Synopsis: A naturally talented basketball player, Noah Cruise is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship to UCLA pre-med, rather than succumb to the lure of former sports agent Vaughn and go for the NBA. His best friend, the buddy that took the fall for him and did the time for an assault charge, Tech, also an outstanding basketball player, has less lofty ambitions: he wants to get his GED and win an underground street ball game against his arrogant rival, Jewelz. Their lives change drastically when they both fall in love with two local girls, Vanessa Lilly and Eboni Jackson, and take fateful trip out to L.A. together.

in California, huh?

453

00:
34:15,517 -- 00:34:17,280

Yeah. Yeah. Pre-med.

454

00:
34:47,348 -- 00:34:49,714

So what do you wanna be

when you grow up?

455

00:
34:49,784 -- 00:34:52,378

I'm just trying to get my GED right now.

456

00:
34:52,454 -- 00:34:56,015

I mean, if I had my wishes,

I'd be playing ball.

457

00:
34:56,091 -- 00:34:57,752

In the NBA?

458

00:
34:57,826 -- 00:35:01,956

Come on, now. Every team got a short man,

but let's be realistic.

459

00:
35:02,030 -- 00:35:05,227

I mean, but there is AND1,

460

00:
35:05,667 -- 00:35:08,101

the CBA, Europe.

461

00:
35:08,169 -- 00:35:11,764

Just got to get some light on my game,

gotta get the right people to see it.

462

00:
35:11,840 -- 00:35:15,469

I mean, there's this casting director in L.A.,

says she'll put me in a commercial.

463

00:
35:15,543 -- 00:35:18,239

I'm gonna go out with Cruise

when he doing his orientation.

464

00:
35:18,313 -- 00:35:19,678

Oh, okay, that's hot, you know.

465

00:
35:19,747 -- 00:35:22,875

A friend of mine was telling me that

if you want to be a real make-up artist,

466

00:
35:22,951 -- 00:35:26,250

that you have to move

either out to New York or L.A.

467

00:
35:26,321 -- 00:35:30,223

- You any good at playing basketball?

- When I'm playing...

468

00:
35:30,291 -- 00:35:35,126

I mean, when I'm doing my thing,

I mean, really doing my thing,

469

00:
35:35,196 -- 00:35:38,791

it's like I can run coast to coast,

and the ball is a part of me.

470

00:
35:38,867 -- 00:35:43,566

I can feel it. When to let it go, how much,

471

00:
35:43,638 -- 00:35:46,664

touch, timing, it's all net.

472

00:
35:46,741 -- 00:35:48,766

Running on all cylinders.

473

00:
35:49,310 -- 00:35:53,212

And playing street ball

the way nobody's ever played it before.

474

00:
35:54,816 -- 00:35:59,150

You know, I've never heard anybody talk

about anything that way before.

475

00:
36:01,890 -- 00:36:05,656

Oh, snap. Yo. Yo, I almost forgot.

476

00:
36:05,727 -- 00:36:08,321

My boy's having a pool party tonight.

477

00:
36:08,730 -- 00:36:10,254

- At midnight?

- Yeah.

478

00:
36:10,331 -- 00:36:13,027

Yo, he a real baller.

You know, and it's invitation only.

479

00:
36:13,101 -- 00:36:16,468

It's supposed to be hot.

He lives up in Palmer Woods.

480

00:
36:17,038 -- 00:36:19,302

So are you and your girl down?

481

00:
36:20,275 -- 00:36:21,640

Yeah. Okay.

482

00:
36:24,212 -- 00:36:27,010

This is the pool party

that you was talking about?

483

00:
36:27,081 -- 00:36:29,242

I mean, how many girls

have you told this lie to?

484

00:
36:29,317 -- 00:36:34,311

Ain't nobody lying. This is Palmer Woods.

This is my man, Cruise.

485

00:
36:34,389 -- 00:36:38,325

This is his crib.

And the four of us can make a party.

486

00:
36:38,393 -- 00:36:41,487

Oh, as long as we don't wake up

my grandmother.

487

00:
36:41,563 -- 00:36:44,589

- I don't know about this.

- I do.

488

00:
36:44,666 -- 00:36:48,158

When was the last time you've been over

somebody's house that had their own pool?

489

00:
36:48,236 -- 00:36:51,501

I don't know what you're doing,

but I'm getting in.

490

00:
36:57,278 -- 00:36:58,905

Come on, Daddy.

491

00:
37:00,114 -- 00:37:03,572

You're my man, and I love you,

but she called me Daddy.

492

00:
37:23,972 -- 00:37:26,372

You got a girlfriend, Mr. Cruise?

493

00:
37:27,342 -- 00:37:29,071

No. You got a man?

494

00:
37:29,477 -- 00:37:33,140

None to speak of.

You want a girl, Mr. Cruise?

495

00:
37:34,482 -- 00:37:36,245

Yeah. I'd like that.

496

00:
37:37,485 -- 00:37:42,149

'Cause you've got this water glistening

all over your body, girl.

497

00:
37:44,259 -- 00:37:48,992

You know, I've never been

to California before. That's big.

498

00:
37:49,430 -- 00:37:52,263

It's probably real romantic

if you're there with the right person.

499

00:
37:52,333 -- 00:37:54,130

You know what I mean?

500

00:
37:54,636 -- 00:37:57,730

I mean, at least it looks like that

in music videos.

501

00:
37:57,805 -- 00:38:00,399

Well, are you the right person?

502

00:
38:23,965 -- 00:38:28,061

So you're probably wishing

you hooked up with Vanessa.

503

00:
38:29,370 -- 00:38:32,567

- I didn't say that.

- Yeah, but you was thinking it.

504

00:
38:32,640 -- 00:38:35,871

I think I'm the best judge

of what I was thinking.

505

00:
38:37,145 -- 00:38:41,844

Look, Tech, I can't front. I'm feeling you.

506

00:
38:42,817 -- 00:38:47,083

But I can't put myself out there

if you ain't gonna be real with this.

507

00:
38:48,423 -- 00:38:50,584

Look, I can't front either.

508

00:
38:50,658 -- 00:38:55,220

And I can't speak of what's gonna happen

with us tomorrow or the day after,

509

00:
38:55,296 -- 00:38:57,457

but right here, right now...

510

00:
38:58,800 -- 00:39:01,701

I wouldn't want to be with anybody but you.

511

00:
39:08,309 -- 00:39:13,906

- Now, is that real enough for you?

- I don't know. Let's try it again.

512

00:
39:31,699 -- 00:39:34,634

See you later. Vanessa!

513

00:
39:36,504 -- 00:39:39,871

Goodbye, Daddy.

I was kissing him, if y'all don't mind.

514

00:
39:40,208 -- 00:39:42,768

Man, I am feeling her!

515

00:
39:46,013 -- 00:39:48,243

You know she used to be

with Jewelz, right?

516

00:
39:48,316 -- 00:39:50,147

She's with me now.

517

00:
39:50,218 -- 00:39:51,617

We go together.

518

00:
39:51,686 -- 00:39:55,122

Oh, really?

So where the hell are y'all going?

519

00:
40:05,566 -- 00:40:09,627

Yo, I asked her if she would go

to the orientation with me in L.A.

520

00:
40:13,775 -- 00:40:17,609

So she's got you open like the freeway

at 4:
00 in the morning.

521

00:
40:20,748 -- 00:40:23,239

But, come on, man. I'm not mad at you.

522

00:
40:23,317 -- 00:40:25,842

She's a fine little chick, for sure.

523

00:
40:25,920 -- 00:40:30,357

I've got to get my money right,

and we can make it a double date to L.A.

524

00:
40:30,758 -- 00:40:32,487

You asked Eboni.

525

00:
40:32,560 -- 00:40:34,050

Yeah, I asked her. So what?

526

00:
40:34,128 -- 00:40:35,925

Look who's open like a freeway

at 4:
00 in the morning.

527

00:
40:35,997 -- 00:40:38,727

You're talking about me. This guy, man.

528

00:
40:39,267 -- 00:40:41,758

And how you going to get the paper?

529

00:
40:46,073 -- 00:40:49,474

Vaughn ain't running no games

no time soon, so...

530

00:
40:51,345 -- 00:40:53,643

I'm gonna have to do what I do.

531

00:
40:57,485 -- 00:41:01,478

Now, look, cats know who you are out there.

Be careful.

532

00:
41:01,556 -- 00:41:05,390

Hey, if a man wants something

he ain't never had before,

533

00:
41:05,460 -- 00:41:08,452

he got to do something

he ain't never done before.

534

00:
41:12,900 -- 00:41:15,232

It's 9:
45 in The Motor City.

535

00:
41:19,173 -- 00:41:22,802

Yo, Up! Come open the door, man!

536

00:
41:27,148 -- 00:41:28,445

Yo. What up, Tech?

537

00:
41:28,516 -- 00:41:31,383

What up, dawg? You want to run with me?

538

00:
41:31,452 -- 00:41:34,046
