Crossover Page #9

Synopsis: A naturally talented basketball player, Noah Cruise is determined to become a doctor using his basketball scholarship to UCLA pre-med, rather than succumb to the lure of former sports agent Vaughn and go for the NBA. His best friend, the buddy that took the fall for him and did the time for an assault charge, Tech, also an outstanding basketball player, has less lofty ambitions: he wants to get his GED and win an underground street ball game against his arrogant rival, Jewelz. Their lives change drastically when they both fall in love with two local girls, Vanessa Lilly and Eboni Jackson, and take fateful trip out to L.A. together.

00:
55:27,020 -- 00:55:29,386

So, do you get a lot of work

doing makeup for commercials?

723

00:
55:29,456 -- 00:55:32,983

Yeah, once you get your hours in

and join the union, the work's pretty steady.

724

00:
55:33,060 -- 00:55:36,359

- You looking to get into the business?

- I'd like to.

725

00:
55:39,066 -- 00:55:40,465

Thank you.

726

00:
55:41,401 -- 00:55:43,198

I'll bring her over to the set

after she's done here.

727

00:
55:43,270 -- 00:55:44,464

Okay.

728

00:
56:40,694 -- 00:56:42,218

All right and cut.

729

00:
56:43,029 -- 00:56:46,556

Very good, man, very good.

That was incredible.

730

00:
56:46,633 -- 00:56:49,898

Hey, if you need some more, let me know.

I got more moves, man. I can do this all day.

731

00:
56:49,970 -- 00:56:52,063

I think we're good.

It was great working with you, man.

732

00:
56:52,139 -- 00:56:53,936

- Well, thanks for the opportunity.

- All right, all right.

733

00:
56:54,007 -- 00:56:56,703

Okay, everybody. That's a wrap on Tech.

734

00:
57:02,015 -- 00:57:04,176

I'll let your girlfriend know you're done

while you change over.

735

00:
57:04,251 -- 00:57:05,377

Cool.

736

00:
57:05,452 -- 00:57:07,147

Hey, you think a lot of people

gonna see this commercial?

737

00:
57:07,220 -- 00:57:09,984

Yeah, it's a national spot,

so it'll be playing everywhere.

738

00:
57:10,056 -- 00:57:11,182

Yeah.

739

00:
57:14,361 -- 00:57:16,727

Hey, that dude got on the same clothes

that I got.

740

00:
57:16,797 -- 00:57:19,595

Yeah, he's the actor you're doubling for.

741

00:
57:19,666 -- 00:57:21,361

- Doubling?

- Yeah. Nick Harvell.

742

00:
57:21,435 -- 00:57:23,562

He's the star of the commercial

but he can't play ball.

743

00:
57:23,637 -- 00:57:25,730

But, with your help,

he's gonna look like Michael Jordan.

744

00:
57:25,806 -- 00:57:27,603

You want to meet him?

745

00:
57:28,175 -- 00:57:30,336

- It's all right. That's all right.

- I can grab his autograph for you, man.

746

00:
57:30,410 -- 00:57:32,901

- He do it all the time.

- Look, I just said, that's all right!

747

00:
57:55,168 -- 00:57:56,965

- We're out.

- Hold on one second.

748

00:
57:57,037 -- 00:58:00,268

- Shelli's just giving me some information.

- No, look, didn't you hear what I said?

749

00:
58:00,340 -- 00:58:02,604

Now, let's go. I said, we out.

750

00:
58:03,810 -- 00:58:06,472

What's wrong with you?

Why are you acting like this?

751

00:
58:06,546 -- 00:58:08,138

Tech, stop! You're hurting my arm!

752

00:
58:08,215 -- 00:58:10,115

- Hey, man, what are you doing?

- Mind your own business.

753

00:
58:10,183 -- 00:58:12,014

Look, take it easy...

754

00:
58:14,287 -- 00:58:15,811

You all right?

755

00:
58:18,992 -- 00:58:20,857

This is nice, baby.

756

00:
58:20,927 -- 00:58:24,727

Yeah, it's wild.

Eating lunch outside at school.

757

00:
58:25,499 -- 00:58:27,467

It's quiet. It's serene.

758

00:
58:28,034 -- 00:58:31,470

Yeah, weather sure does make a difference.

759

00:
58:32,172 -- 00:58:34,367

I wanted to make it official.

760

00:
58:34,941 -- 00:58:36,431

Oh, my God.

761

00:
58:37,077 -- 00:58:38,840

Wait till Eboni sees this!

762

00:
58:38,912 -- 00:58:43,975

See now, you've got some karats

to go with that salad.

763

00:
58:45,185 -- 00:58:46,675

You like that?

764

00:
58:47,220 -- 00:58:48,710

Baby, can you afford this?

765

00:
58:48,788 -- 00:58:50,756

You know, my grandmother helped me out.

766

00:
58:50,824 -- 00:58:55,454

It's gonna be kind of rough on us at first,

so I figured I'd go all out for the ring.

767

00:
58:55,529 -- 00:58:58,623

So what,

are you thinking about going pro, baby?

768

00:
58:59,132 -- 00:59:00,724

You sound like that cat, Vaughn.

769

00:
59:00,800 -- 00:59:02,290

I really didn't know

what he was talking about,

770

00:
59:02,369 -- 00:59:05,099

but he sounded

like he knows how to make us some money.

771

00:
59:05,171 -- 00:59:07,162

Well, you know, could be.

772

00:
59:07,874 -- 00:59:11,173

Look, I don't know

how much it costs to have a baby,

773

00:
59:11,645 -- 00:59:14,580

but I do know it's more than what we've got.

774

00:
59:15,448 -- 00:59:18,576

Vanessa, I've thought about it. But...

775

00:
59:21,488 -- 00:59:23,046

But what, baby?

776

00:
59:23,123 -- 00:59:25,318

The night my mother died,

777

00:
59:26,092 -- 00:59:27,753

I get to the hospital

778

00:
59:27,827 -- 00:59:32,093

and there was this orderly there

doing whatever it is that they do.

779

00:
59:33,199 -- 00:59:34,291

What?

780

00:
59:34,634 -- 00:59:38,536

He says he saw me score 40 points

in the game against Oak Park.

781

00:
59:40,740 -- 00:59:44,369

My mother is laying there dying,

782

00:
59:44,978 -- 00:59:48,175

and all he can talk about

is me scoring 40 points?

783

00:
59:49,883 -- 00:59:51,475

I don't know,

I guess in the scheme of things,

784

00:
59:51,551 -- 00:59:54,486

basketball just didn't seem that important.

785

00:
59:54,654 -- 00:59:57,316

So, I'm going to play ball,

and I'm going to walk out of here

786

00:
59:57,390 -- 01:00:00,257

with a degree on their dime,

and go to medical school.

787

01:
00:00,327 -- 01:00:02,659

Aren't you afraid Vaughn's gonna tell

you took some money?

788

01:
00:02,729 -- 01:00:06,631

No, I didn't take any money.

But it doesn't even matter, all right?

789

01:
00:06,700 -- 01:00:09,191

He's not gonna say anything.

He's got nothing to gain.

790

01:
00:09,269 -- 01:00:14,332

It doesn't matter anyway. I'm on your team.

And you're the captain.

791

01:
00:14,407 -- 01:00:15,465

I'm the captain.

792

01:
00:15,542 -- 01:00:18,841

- You're the captain.

- That's right. I'm the captain.

793

01:
00:42,402 -- 01:00:46,133

- You think that's a really good idea?

- This is a great idea.

794

01:
00:48,942 -- 01:00:50,967

Look, Tech, I know you're upset

about the commercial...

795

01:
00:51,044 -- 01:00:52,568

Play your role.

796

01:
00:56,316 -- 01:00:59,752

- Play my role? What role?

- Like you don't know?

797

01:
00:59,819 -- 01:01:04,756

Like cute girl latches onto

ambitious young guy for a free trip to L.A.

798

01:
01:04,824 -- 01:01:07,122

- You think that's why I'm here?

- You tell me.

799

01:
01:07,193 -- 01:01:10,162

You didn't even know I existed

until I told you I was coming to L.A.

800

01:
01:10,230 -- 01:01:13,165

Then, all of a sudden I became very special.

801

01:
01:13,700 -- 01:01:15,759

Look, you really need

to slow your roll right now,

802

01:
01:15,835 -- 01:01:19,327

because you been drinking a whole lot,

and you're talking real stupid right now.

803

01:
01:19,406 -- 01:01:24,605

So now I'm stupid? I don't need a GED

to see the type of trick you're in.

804

01:
01:24,678 -- 01:01:26,578

N*gger, I don't know

who you think you're talking to,

805

01:
01:26,646 -- 01:01:29,615

but I'm not one of these skanks

that you'd have met after a pick-up game.

806

01:
01:29,683 -- 01:01:31,412

You think I need your sh*t in my life?
