Billy opens the front door.

Breda comes out after him.

BREDA:

Bill, I meant to give this to ye

earlier but... Happy anniversary.

She hands him the ENVELOPE.

Billy takes it from her.

BILLY:

Sorry, I never...

BREDA:

Don't mind. See ye later.

Billy nods and leaves the house.

112 EXT. ROAD - NIGHT 112

Billy walks on down the road looking at the ENVELOPE in his

hand. He slips it unopened into his jacket pocket.

113 INT. MAC'S FRONT BAR- NIGHT 113

Billy sits with Tony up at the counter. As he downs his PINT,

a male passer-by lets out a WOLF WHISTLE.

Billy seems pleased with the attention and turns to Tony.

BILLY:

So when are we going to get to meet

this young one of yours?

TONY:

You won't. She's me little Dublin

fling.

Billy nods but now seems a little tense and is downing his

PINT.

BILLY:

Tony, can I ask ye something?

TONY:

What?

BILLY:

How do ye do it? The young ones, ye

know... Even when ye were married

ye were...

TONY:

- Couldn't help it, Bill.

BILLY:

Your Linda, she was... I always

liked her.

Tony nods, unsure of where this is going.

BILLY:

Billy can't go on and takes a slug of beer.

Tony feels that he must say something.

A GAGGLE OF GIRLS enter the bar LAUGHING and TALKING.

TONY:

Hey Bill, sure you wouldn't be

human if you didn't have... Sure

isn't it all around you.

He indicates the GIRLS.

TONY (CONT'D)

(all smiles)

Best thing you can do is have a

great night with Breda tonight.

Billy nods and does his best to smile. A short awkward

silence is broken by the sudden arrival of an extremely

u pbeat Breffni.

BREFFNI:

There's the man. Happy anniversary.

Billy turns to signal a drink off Quenchers.

Breffni and Tony exchange nods.

BREFFNI (CONT'D)

That Eilish is some woman. Could

get real fond if I'm not careful.

Tony and Billy give him a look.

BREFFNI (CONT'D)

Well I've kinda spent the last

couple a days with her. Oh Yeah!

Tony flicks his eyes to heaven, clearly disgusted.

Billy and Breffni share a grin.

114 INT. FARRELL HOUSE/SITTING ROOM - NIGHT 114

Breda stands looking out the window nervously waiting. She

takes out her lipstick to do a last minute touch up.

Amanda sits on the sofa watching TELEVISION with Edel and

James.

There is a FOLDED SHEET and a PILLOW beside the sofa.

Breda eyes the MANTELPIECE CLOCK.

BREDA:

She's late as usual. I used't say

to her, you'll be late for your own

funeral and she'd say and I'll

definitely be late for me own

wedding, leave him sweatin'.

Breda LAUGHS. Amanda and the kids don't react.

Breda is relieved to HEAR the FRONT DOOR BELL.

She gets up and grabs her BAG.

BREDA (CONT'D)

Right, see ye in the mornin'. Be

good lads.

EDEL:

Have a great time, Ma.

James LOOKS to Breda but says nothing.

Amanda gives Breda a false smile and waves.

115 INT. HALL - NIGHT 115

Breda opens the front door and Eilish stands taking her in.

Breda gives her a quick flash of her lingerie.

EILISH:

Breda Farrell, you look like a big

r ide.

BREDA:

Thanks.

Eilish grabs her arm.

EILISH:

Come on girl, let's live it large!

Breda stops at the door and nervously adjusts herself.

EILISH:

Are ye right?

BREDA:

As I'll ever be.

117 INT. FLANAGAN'S LOUNGE - NIGHT 117

Breda follows behind Eilish as they make their way through

the packed bar which is a much more up market and trendy

place than Mac's.

Breda looks hesitantly around her. Every now and again she

CATCHES faces spotting her and COMMENTING to their neighbour.

EILISH:

You're turnin' heads tonight girl.

Breda grins and visibly grows in confidence.

They reach the counter and Breda sees Ernie Egan turning and

barely recognising her.

ERNIE:

(smiling broadly)

Howareye... Breda... Lookin' great.

Breda gives him a big smile.

Ernie turns back to the bar.

Breda looks and hear's Yvonne's BIG LAUGH behind them.

Breda turns back to Ernie.

BREDA:

Ernie, come here, what do ye want?

ERNIE:

Ah no... no.

BREDA:

I insist, go back down, I want to

get you and Yvonne a drink.

ERNIE:

Ah well sure... Thanks Breda. G and

T and a small one. Oh there's a

party above in the house tonight if

you fancy it.

Breda WATCHES as he sits back down and is totally ignored by

Yvonne.

118 INT. FLANAGAN'S LOUNGE - MOMENTS LATER 118

Breda plants the DRINKS down in front of Ernie and Yvonne who

s tares back up at her.

YVONNE:

Thank you Breda but there was no

need.

BREDA:

No, there was every need.

YVONNE:

You look well anyway.

BREDA:

I know I f***in' do.

Breda turns with a swagger and walks back through the bar and

takes her seat beside Eilish.

EILISH:

All right.

BREDA:

Yeah, not a f***in' bother.

Breda downs half of her vodka and starts to GIGGLE.

119 EXT. COPPER BEECH NIGHT CLUB - NIGHT 119

Breda and Eilish join the queue of VERY DRUNK LOUD PEOPLE and

can't help LAUGHING amongst themselves.

120 INT. FARRELL HOUSE/CHILDREN'S BEDROOM - NIGHT 120

Edel looks through the PHOTOS on her PHONE by the light of

her BEDSIDE LAMP. We see...

The one of BREDA leaving the house for the weigh in.

The one of Billy with Breda that she took earlier.

James STIRS in the other bed.

EDEL:

Nah... I'm going to try and stay up

until Ma and Da get home together.

James SIGHS and buries his head in his PILLOW.

Edel YAWNS but goes back to her PHONE.
