Lizy – How about you, aren’t you scared, aren’t you thinking about your family.

Hans – I don’t have much of a family, I never married, my parents separated when I was just a boy.

Lizy – That must have been hard on a small kid.

Hans – It was, my father was a drunk, he’d come home late at night and beat my mother up, I’d hear it all lying in my bedroom at night, but I was powerless. So, one night, my mother packed her things, grabbed me by the arms, walked out the front door and we never returned since then. That’s enough about my life, tell me a little bit about yourself.

Lizy – Why you never married, you’re a good-looking guy.

Hans – I don’t really know, I left school age sixteen, worked for a while, joined the army, did my bit for several years, serve your country and all that. When I left the army, I started working in construction, I guess in those settings you don’t get to meet too many women.

Lizy – Do you see your mother much.

Hans – No not much, she never remarried, but had a string of boyfriends, none of them were decent, I never got along with them. Eventually we drifted apart, she doesn’t even know about the plane crash, I called her, and she didn’t say anything.

Lizy – I had an abusive boyfriend once in college, I thought I found the man of my dreams, but evidently, he was a man of my nightmare. I’ve always wanted to travel, that’s why a studied journalism at college, I had it all planned out, I’d work and travel for several years, meet someone then settle down. Why do you have a number tattooed on your shoulder.

Hans – I lost a friend when I was stationed in Afghanistan, we were driving through a village, the Taliban’s opened fire, he died next to me in the passenger’s seat. I felt guilty for several years after that, he had a wife and kid, I met them, I felt guilt that he died and I was alive, I felt maybe I could have saved him. It took me awhile to get over it, the numbers are the day he died.

Lizy – I didn’t think you were the army sort; you seem too sensitive for that sort of stuff.

Hans – I don’t know what to say, I’ve never been called sensitive, when this is all over what do you plan to do?.

Lizy – I plan to get to know you a little better, I’ve grown to like you, under the circumstances I feel maybe fait has something to do with it

Hans – Maybe you should get some rest now.

Lizy – I don’t want to go back to my room, it’s too lonely, I’d like to stay with you, if you don’t mind, look I’m going to get some drinks at the service station help me to relax, I’ll bring one for you too, wait here.

Lizy makes her way to the liquor store, when she notices a couple of men in dark suits walking around, looking around, looking at the vehicles parked at the parking bays, their eyes are drawn to a pickup truck, the one Hans rented, and they seem to be indicating that they found what they’ve be looking for. Lizy makes a u turn and rushes back to Hans’s room.

Lizy – Hans open quickly.

Hans – What is it, why are you panicking.

Lizy – I saw two suspicious men, snooping around, they look like agents, and they’re looking for us.

Hans – What made you think that.

Lizy – I just know, trust me.

Hans – Ok, let me call Jay, I’ll tell him what you just told me, now calm down.

Hans reaches for his mobile phone and makes a call.

Hans – Come on pick up, hey Jay, we’ve got company, agents, I need you to be nearby when they knock on my door.

Jay – What I’m I looking for.

Hans – Two men in dark suits, when I answer the door, I’ll ask a few questions, if I feel the heat, I need you around.

Jay – I’ll be close by.

Two men in dark suits, enter the building, they pretend to be checking in for the night, and walk past the receptionist. They knock on Hans’s door.

Agents 1- you think we’ve got our guy.

Agent 2 – I can’t be sure.

Hans – Who is it.

Agents – FBI we just want to ask you a few questions.

Hans – Sure hold on a moment.

Hans had a plan, he planned to escape out the window with Lizy, make his way back to the truck and call Jay to make his way.

Lizy – What do you think.

Hans – Lets go hurry.

The Agents break down the door. But by the time they were in, Hans and Lizy were gone.

Hans – Jay make your way to the parking bay now, they are American agents, get out now.

Jay – I’m on my way.

Jay makes his way to the truck, jumps in and gives the signal to drive.

Hans – What did you see Jay.

Hans – Same thing as you did, two men in dark suits, one of them was carrying a gun, I could see it held in his left hand.

Lizy – How did they find us.

Hans – I have no idea; all I know we’ve got to dump the truck soon.

Jay – Not too soon, I suggest we get to our destination first.

The trio are on the road, the sky is clear, the moon visible, Jay is seated in the passenger seat with a map in his hand giving direction. Lizy is awake, making sandwiches, she appears calm and especially at ease with Hans. Hans isn’t talking just gazing into the distance almost trance like, driving at a steady pace. Night turns into day, the sun rise can be seen, Hans taking a rest for a short while, Jay behind the wheel, they soon arrive at a landmark, a mountain.

Jay – Hans wake up, we’re almost there, not long to go, there is the mountain.

Lizy – I see it, isn’t it beautiful, ok according to this map, we must turn into S43 then it’s about a mile and a half drive.

Hans – They didn’t catch up with us, slow down a little bit.

Lizy – What are we looking for exactly.

Jay – A warehouse, a large warehouse if you can remember.

Lizy – You’d think they’d be more secretive wouldn’t you, some underground place.

Hans – That’s their strategy, it’s makeshift, no one would suspect anything that way.

Jay – There it is I see it, to my left, there is no signs and no road leading up to it.

Hans – Ok stop the truck, we’ll make our way by foot, less noise, they won’t see us coming if we just act normal.

They abandon their truck next to a tree, unload their weapons and make their way. Just as they reach the warehouse, they notice it’s too quiet, something earie about the place.

Jay – That’s where we broke free, look they haven’t even fixed the dam gates.

Lizy – I have a bad feeling, I think no one is here Hans, can you see the sand, and the surrounding area, it looks like the space shuttle took off, the after burner, has burnt the walls. It’s too late, we are too late.

Just as they thought they were alone, several vehicles, unmarked vehicles circle them, they are ordered on the microphone to put their weapons down and to keep their hands up in the air.

Man with microphone – We’re the FBI, keep your hand where we can see them and go down on your knees.

Hans – Just do as they say, they’ve obviously been following us.

At that point several agents approach Hans, Lizy and Jay, they grab them by their arms handcuff them, escort them into a police van and drive them to a police station.

Agent Lawrence – We were expecting you; we’ve been waiting all day yesterday and today, we’d sent two agents to talk with you, but we had no luck.
