Pierce:
Daryl?

[It becomes clear to the orderly that he will never get an answer. On another screen, he sees something moving in a storage room. He walks to the room and enters it, holding out his trusty flashlight to spot the intruders. A few moments later, he hears something, the squeaking of wheels. Elijah Price, now in a purple suit, wheels towards the orderly and rests his hands on his lap]

Elijah:
This is where they would paint you with big eyes and bubbles of confusion above your head.

[Behind the caretaker, The Beast slides down from the ceiling. Pierce looks at the monstrous man, who's snarling and ready to attack]

The Beast:
You... hurt him?

Pierce:
(startled) What are you doing?

The Beast:
You... should kneel before him. He is the broken.

Pierce:
Step away from me. Get back in your room! (turns back to Elijah) Both of you!

[It's no use, The Beast grabs Pierce from behind and embraces him in a bear hug. Pierce gasps, twitches, tries to breathe, but his attacker has the upper hand. In a POV shot, we see how the two of them fall down on their knees]

Elijah:
(to The Beast) You're fighting for the broken. You found your purpose.

[The orderly snorts as his eyes roll over in their sockets, just before The Beast breaks Pierce's back and kills him. The corpse falls on the ground. Elijah leans forward and shakes his head. The Beast breathes heavily and, out of adrenaline, punches the corpse five times]

Elijah:
One of the Horde may need to walk us out of here, if that's okay... partner.

[In David's cell, the captive hurls himself at the steel door, trying to get out. He walks back and tries again, leaving a significant dent in the door. David lightly turns his head. At the elevator, we see someone in a nurse outfit pushing Elijah through the hall. Two other nurses see them and one of them grabs a nearby Phone to alert someone of the scene. An elevator door opens. We see that the one wheeling Elijah around is Patricia. The two of them get into the elevator]

Elijah:
Go through the basement.

[Patricia has her finger above the button for the ground floor, but then pushes the basement button. Through camera footage, we see David's cell door fly off his hinges. The Overseer steps out of his room and gets to the item storage room. He pulls out of the boxes, grabs his wedding ring, tenderly kisses it and hangs it around his neck. He then grabs his rain poncho and rolls it out, ready to put it on. Outside, Dr. Staple just gets out of her car before she is joined by Mrs. Price, Joseph and Casey. All three of the acquaintances accompany the doctor to her office]

Dr. Staple:
Listen to me, Joseph. Your father is making great progress. I'm very hopeful for him.

Casey:
Did you know the first Superman couldn't even fly? And Metropolis is actually New York City. And what about all the coincidences in what I was reading?

Comic books are an obsession. Have you ever been to a comic book convention? They sell teen TV shows there. They are selling things. Your friends and family members have lost their perspective. (points at Joseph) Your dad is trying to fight (to Casey) her abductor. (to Mrs. Price) Your son is trying to best his dad. He's the anarchist. He's the brains. He's the reluctant hero. This all sounds very familiar, doesn't it? Comic books are not valid history.

[She then notices a notification on her computer. "Unauthorized Personnel In Staff Tunnels". In these tunnels, Patricia and Elijah are seen by three orderlies]

Orderly:
Hey! What wing are you with?

[Patricia leans forward and whispers in Elijah's ear]

Patricia:
Uh, The Beast is saying that he'd like you to roll forward when they come.

[The three men step forward while Patricia turns back and takes her nurse uniform off]

Patricia:
(like a mantra) I believe. I believe. I believe.

[The orderlies walk straight past Elijah while Patricia takes her cap off]

Patricia:
I believe.

[She gurgles and screams, she falls forward. Mr. Glass pulls the blanket away and wheels himself to the exit while The Beast rises and attacks the orderlies. The doctor walks to the control room and sees the surgery lens Elijah that Elijah left behind on the table. A note lies on top of it, "Dear Ellie, I'm looking forward to our talk as well". On the monitors, Dr. Staple observes the situaton, Daryl and Pierce are both dead and the three superhumans have disappeared. The shocked doctor turns to a nearby TV and turns the sound on, a news broadcast is playing]

Reporter:
The new Osaka building opens today with much fanfare. Thousands are expected to come out for the ceremony. Many just want to see the spectacular architecture. Now, this building is expected to be the hub of the business community, creating thousands of jobs...

Dr. Staple:
(shaking voice, over a walkie talkie) We have a Code Three. All patients locked in their rooms. Ground security on alert.

[The doctor's orders echo through the facility, through her office, where Joseph, Mrs. Price and Casey are present]

Dr. Staple (vo):
The patients are planning to go to the public opening of the Osaka Tower, the tallest building. Elijah may be intending to compromise a chemical facility there. Please alert the Philadelphia Police Department. They made a mistake going through the basement. It gives us some time.

Mrs. Price:
I remember something about a classic public forum where the climax of limited editions end. Uh, I think he said it was referred to as... the showdown, where all the skills are revealed and… and pitted against each other.

Casey:
And then? What happens?

[Outside, The Beast runs past a police car, slamming into the door as he passes it. The two officers inside are startled when he slams the door again. Then, his face appears in front of the window, he yells and grabs the underside of the car]

Police Officer:
Christ, they're out here. They're out here!

[On security footage, we see that the car gets flipped on its side by The Beast's raw power. In the meantime, Elijah goes inside the control room. He gets behind a keyboard and types in several lines of code. This will become important later. Dr. Staple leans against the wall of Elijah's cell. She talks over the phone to someone while looking at Daryl's body]

Dr. Staple:
This is Dr. Ellie Staple. We will need assistance at Raven Hill Memorial immediately.

[David, back in his superhero costume, runs through a patient room towards the exit, surprising several onlookers. Outside, the alarm is ringing while two female volunteers get out of their cars. They look around in surprise, before they suddenly come face to face with Dennis. He throws them into a van before closing the doors, probably as sacred food for The Beast. He turns back to Elijah, it's like he has doubts about the Horde's plan]

Dennis:
No! How many people are gonna die today? Huh? I don't want to do this. I don't care what Patricia says. I'm not... (grunts) Hedwig's taking the light.
