109

00:
08:54,867 -- 00:08:55,856

Neil Vargas.

110

00:
08:55,902 -- 00:08:58,871

Yeah, heavyweight

kickboxing champion.

111

00:
08:59,906 -- 00:09:00,998

Can we talk business,

David?

112

00:
09:01,040 -- 00:09:03,907

I have a business, Justin.

113

00:
09:03,943 -- 00:09:05,968

How long can you

hold onto this place?

114

00:
09:06,012 -- 00:09:07,946

A month?

Two?

115

00:
09:07,980 -- 00:09:11,848

Come on.

It's a dinosaur.

116

00:
09:11,884 -- 00:09:12,976

I'll take

a small-time sport

117

00:
09:13,019 -- 00:09:15,954

and turn it into

an international commodity.

118

00:
09:15,988 -- 00:09:17,888

I need a spokesperson,

119

00:
09:17,924 -- 00:09:20,950

someone the fighters and

corporate sponsors respect.

120

00:
09:20,993 -- 00:09:23,928

Cable contracts,

product endorsements,

121

00:
09:23,963 -- 00:09:25,828

merchandising...

122

00:
09:25,865 -- 00:09:26,889

The word is...

123

00:
09:26,933 -- 00:09:30,061

I think the word

you're looking for is "hype".

124

00:
09:32,838 -- 00:09:36,035

This is something people wait

their whole lives for.

125

00:
09:36,075 -- 00:09:39,010

This could be your

last chance to be somebody.

126

00:
09:40,079 -- 00:09:41,910

I am somebody.

127

00:
09:41,948 -- 00:09:44,041

See, I'm a teacher.

128

00:
09:47,853 -- 00:09:50,913

I don't think I want any part

of your three ring circus.

129

00:
09:51,924 -- 00:09:53,892

I'm very disappointed, David.

130

00:
09:53,926 -- 00:09:56,918

You should learn to live

with disappointment, Maciah.

131

00:
09:56,963 -- 00:09:58,988

It builds character.

132

00:
10:03,903 -- 00:10:05,996

Come on, Neil.

133

00:
10:06,038 -- 00:10:08,871

Call me

when you're ready, Brian.

134

00:
10:18,117 -- 00:10:20,915

Some of what he said

made sense.

135

00:
10:20,953 -- 00:10:24,013

Come on, Brian.

That guy's a con man.

136

00:
10:25,057 -- 00:10:27,890

I ve seen people like him

all of my life.

137

00:
10:30,062 -- 00:10:32,121

He s gonna take a sport

that we both love,

138

00:
10:32,865 -- 00:10:34,856

that we'd die for,

and destroy it.

139

00:
10:34,900 -- 00:10:36,128

He said I'm ready

to turn pro.

140

00:
10:36,869 -- 00:10:39,963

So, you think I'm holding

you back, champ?

141

00:
10:41,007 -- 00:10:41,974

Nah...

142

00:
10:42,008 -- 00:10:44,067

You coming over

for dinner tonight?

143

00:
10:44,110 -- 00:10:47,102

- Yeah, what s cooking?

- Mom's pot roast.

144

00:
10:47,146 -- 00:10:48,909

Ouch!

145

00:
10:48,948 -- 00:10:51,041

Listen, she thinks

everybody likes it.

146

00:
10:51,083 -- 00:10:55,952

Not a word from me.

I promise.

147

00:
10:55,988 -- 00:10:58,149

Why don't you go

hit the weights?

148

00:
11:18,077 -- 00:11:21,171

Joe:
Stop harassing

the fighters, you little punk.

149

00:
11:21,914 -- 00:11:24,144

Get outta here.

Hey!

150

00:
11:25,184 -- 00:11:27,049

So, who's the wise guy?

151

00:
11:27,086 -- 00:11:30,988

Name's Joey D'Angelo.

I came here to fight.

152

00:
11:31,023 -- 00:11:34,959

This lowlife here

is challenging our students.

153

00:
11:34,994 -- 00:11:36,962

So, you want to fight?

154

00:
11:36,996 -- 00:11:39,988

What about it, a**hole?

155

00:
11:41,100 -- 00:11:43,159

I wanna train.

156

00:
11:43,202 -- 00:11:45,067

Do you got

money for lessons?

157

00:
11:45,104 -- 00:11:49,063

If I had money do you think

I'd be in this crappy dump?

158

00:
11:49,108 -- 00:11:51,008

I heard you give freebies.

159

00:
11:51,043 -- 00:11:53,068

Yeah, well you heard wrong.

160

00:
11:53,112 -- 00:11:56,081

You wanna train here,

you ve got to prove yourself.

161

00:
11:56,115 -- 00:11:58,015

You clean the bathrooms.

162

00:
11:58,050 -- 00:11:59,984

When you see me

you smile

163

00:
12:00,019 -- 00:12:01,213

and say,

"Good morning, Mr. Sloan",

164

00:
12:01,954 -- 00:12:04,013

like you enjoy it.

165

00:
12:04,056 -- 00:12:06,183

If I catch you

not smiling one time,

166

00:
12:06,225 -- 00:12:09,991

I'm gonna throw you out

onto the streets. You got that?

167

00:
12:11,197 -- 00:12:15,190

Now, what makes you think

you're good enough to train?

168

00:
12:15,234 -- 00:12:19,068

He s not.

I mean, look at the kid.

169

00:
12:19,105 -- 00:12:23,098

He s small.

Obviously he's weak...

170

00:
12:23,142 -- 00:12:26,134

If you wasn't a chick

I'd rip off your damn head.

171

00:
12:26,178 -- 00:12:27,236

Get what I'm saying?

172

00:
12:27,279 -- 00:12:31,045

You know something?

You talk too much.

173

00:
12:31,083 -- 00:12:33,051

You shouldn't swear

all the time.

174

00:
12:33,085 -- 00:12:36,077

When you swear all the time

it loses its meaning.

175

00:
12:36,122 -- 00:12:37,146

Got that?

176

00:
12:38,190 -- 00:12:40,124

Go to hell!

177

00:
12:45,998 -- 00:12:47,192

Okay, here's the deal...

178

00:
12:47,233 -- 00:12:50,168

you kick this bag 500 times

and I'll train you.

179

00:
12:52,138 -- 00:12:55,164

I could kick that bag

five billion times.

180

00:
12:55,207 -- 00:12:58,233

500 times will be just fine.

181

00:
13:03,282 -- 00:13:06,115

I'm telling you,

you're in trouble.

182

00:
13:06,152 -- 00:13:09,280

You are two months behind

on the mortgage payment.

183

00:
13:09,321 -- 00:13:12,188

These are all

outstanding bills.

184

00:
13:12,224 -- 00:13:14,192

You got any suggestions?

185

00:
13:14,226 -- 00:13:17,093

Yeah, you start fighting again.

186

00:
13:17,129 -- 00:13:19,256

Aside from that.

187

00:
13:19,298 -- 00:13:21,266

Fighting pays the bills.

188

00:
13:21,300 -- 00:13:23,291

That's how your brothers

made this gym.

189

00:
13:25,037 -- 00:13:28,268

I could get you some exhibition

bouts like Kurt used to take.

190

00:
13:29,308 -- 00:13:32,175

Fighting killed him.

191

00:
13:35,080 -- 00:13:37,310

What killed your brothers

was fighting in Thailand.

192

00:
13:40,286 -- 00:13:43,278

I know you never thought you

were as good as your brothers.

193

00:
13:43,322 -- 00:13:46,257

Not as strong.

Not as fast.

194

00:
13:46,292 -- 00:13:51,127

But Kurt and Eric always said

you had the biggest heart.

195

00:
13:53,065 -- 00:13:55,226

And heart can win

a lot of fights.

196

00:
13:58,070 -- 00:14:00,061

Just think about it, David.

197

00:
14:01,207 -- 00:14:03,175

Meanwhile, we ve got

bills to pay.

198

00:
14:08,080 -- 00:14:11,140

I'm not going to fight

anymore, Jack.

199

00:
14:13,219 -- 00:14:15,084

Okay then...

200

00:
14:15,120 -- 00:14:17,315

at least raise the mat rates

and locker fees.

201

00:
14:19,124 -- 00:14:21,354

Most of these fighters

can't afford the rates

202

00:
14:21,393 -- 00:14:23,327

we re charging them now.

203

00:
14:23,362 -- 00:14:26,331

We also talked about

phasing out the youth program.

204

00:
14:26,365 -- 00:14:28,162

We're not phasing it out.

205

00:
14:28,200 -- 00:14:30,134

What are you, Mother Theresa?

206

00:
14:30,169 -- 00:14:33,161

What about aerobics classes?

They make money.

207

00:
14:35,274 -- 00:14:36,332

Aerobics classes.
