EXT. CAMP

They divide the meat. Not enough for everyone. People start quarreling and accidentally kill an old lady. They'll make a bonfire. They eat meat. And the thin hand of an old woman is fried on the fire. BLACKOUT

EXT. CAMP - MOMENTS LATER

The soldiers are coming. Guns on their hands. Skeletons and skulls of people lie here and there on the ground. The camp is abandoned. A little further on, several men around 60 are hunting for a woman under 65. The squad leader gives the signal to shoot. The soldiers will start shooting at the men.

The men fall one by one. The old lady, crying and smiling, runs to the commander.

THE OLD LADY (HOLDING HIS HAND)

Thank you, thank you very much. Please take me away from here. And give me some water and bread. I haven't eaten in days. Please.

The commander shakes off her hand and looks disgustedly into his hand. The old lady looks at him and watches his actions with her mouth open. The commander squints at her. She opens her eyes wide and begins to move away from him. Turning around, she runs away. The commander takes aim and shoots at her. She's falling. The soldiers look at each other. They didn't expect this.

COMMANDER (LOUDLY) I ordered you to kill everyone.

Several soldiers look at him and drop their weapons.

ONE SOLDIER:

They are ordinary citizens. They are hungry, we refuse to kill them.

The commander looks at him for 2 seconds and shoots at him and at everyone who laid down their weapons. Everyone falls. The other soldiers look at each other. They're scared.

COMMANDER (SHOUTING)

Is there anyone else who wants to? I said it was an order.

The soldiers are looking down with their heads bowed. The commander looks around. BLACKOUT

EXT. THE DESERT IS GETTING DARK

LOLA I'm really sorry.

AZIZ (SIGHING AND LOOKING AT BUNYOD)

We were one of those soldiers, too. We served together in the same unit. Many of our people refused to kill and were killed for it.

EXT. HIGH–RISE BUILDINGS - DAY

In the center stands Bunyod and the Commander. Bunyod is angry. The commander shoots at Bunyod. He's falling. Aziz looks at Bunyod. The commander shouts. Aziz picks up a gun and starts shooting towards high-rise buildings. The commander turns away and goes shooting. Aziz lags behind everyone and runs up to Bunyod, who was lying on the ground. Checks the pulse. Throwing the weapon to his shoulders, He will drag him in the other direction. BLACKOUT

EXT. MOUNTAINS – NIGHT

Aziz drags Bunyod by the armpits. He's unconscious. Puts it at the foot of the mountains. He sits down next to him. Wipes the sweat from his forehead. He was very tired. Opens the backpack. There's water, food, bullets. Takes water in a bottle. Opens it, takes a sip and brings it to Bunyod's lips and lifts his head. He weakly takes a sip. Barely opens his eyes. He takes a sip and closes his eyes. Put it back on the ground. He puts the water in his backpack. Closes it. Lean against the mountains.

People with a gun are coming down from above. They take aim at Aziz and Bunyod. Aziz looks at them and at Bunyod. Then he raises his hands. Madina comes running from behind people, in a hijab. And lowering their gun, he looks at Aziz. Aziz lowers his hands and looks at her. He recognized his sister. BLACKOUT

EXT. THE DESERT IS GETTING DARK

LOLA (LOOKING AT HIM)

So she's your sister?

AZIZ (SMILING AT MADINA)

Yes.

LOLA:

How did she end up here? She's not over 60.

AZIZ:

Then I was still serving in the city. I was told that Madina had a virus.

Aziz shrugs his shoulders. He looks at Madina without blinking. Madina turns around. Looks at him and turns away.

LOLA (FROWNING)

But did you say that there is no virus, or does it still exist?

Aziz will also frown.

AZIZ (LOOKING AT THE ROAD)

I'm not sure. Bunyod says no. I believe him and that's it.

He looks at Bunyod. The man turns around and looks at him. Then to Lola. Lola takes a ragged breath. Her breathing quickens. She's looking at us. Bunyod looks at us and turns away. Lola looks away and shakes her jaw. He frowns. She doesn't understand why he's acting like this.

LOLA (INDICATING MADINA AND BUNYOD WITH A NOD OF HER HEAD)

They look beautiful. How long have they been together?

AZIZ (LOOKING AT THEM LAUGHING)

They?

He shows them with his hand.

AZIZ (SMILING)

No way. They're more like an older brother and a younger sister.

Lola sighs and smiles. She nods.

LOLA (TURNING TO AZIZ)

I almost forgot to ask. How do you know my name?

AZIZ (SHRUGGING HIS SHOULDERS)

Bunyod said.

Lola looks at Bunyod's back. And he goes looking forward. BLACKOUT

EXT. OUTSIDE THE WALLS – DAY

TITLE:
2098

Soldiers in black uniforms and a mask come running. They stop in a row and take off their masks. Aziz and Bunyod take off their masks in turn.

COMMANDER (WALKS BACK AND FORTH)

Your task is to protect the city from the enemy. Our enemy is a virus and no matter what we should not allow its spread.

SOLDIERS (SHOUTING SYNCHRONOUSLY)

Yes sir.

We see Bunyod standing with a half smile.

INT. CORRIDOR

Aziz and Bunyod are going. They laugh, run, walk and talk.

AZIZ (WALKS BACKWARDS AND LOOKS AT BUNYOD)

There is nothing left and we will go into battle. Let's beat the enemies and come back as heroes.

Bunyod will pat him on the shoulder. Then the smile fades from his face. Aziz stops smiling, and Bunyod stops too.

BUNYOD (LOOKING JUST BELOW)

And if we don't come back?

AZIZ (STARTS TO SMILE AND HITS HIM ON THE ARM)

Stop thinking about that. Everything will be fine. Such handsome men are obliged to come back.

Bunyod smiles. They jokingly start hitting each other on the hands. A girl passes by with a tray in her hands. They whistle to her. Bunyod winks at her. She smiles and leaves. Bunyod turns away and Aziz hits him on the arm. They walk in the door.

INT. MAMA BUNED'S ROOM – A LITTLE LATER

Bunyod comes in. Leaving his backpack on the floor by the door, he goes to hug his smiling mother. This is the same mother woman as in the beginning, only she has aged a little. They're hugging.

MOM (SMILING WITH TEARS IN HER EYES)

I've missed you so much, my boy.

BUNYOD (SMILES AT HER)

Mom, you brought me food every night.

MOM (SMILING)

Yes, but I didn't have enough communication.

They're hugging. They are sitting and talking, there is music in the background. They laugh. A little later, Mom looks at him for more than 3 seconds in silence.

MOM (QUIETLY)

The time has come.

Goes to the other side of the room. Bunyod looks after her. He's surprised. She'll be back in a few seconds. In her hands is an old yellowish piece of paper. He sits down next to Bunyod and holds out a piece of paper.

MOM (SOFTLY AND PLEADING)

Listen, son. Your great-grandmother wrote it. When she was still alive. Luckily she didn't see it all. But I believe her. Trust you, too. She always asked me to put it in your hands when you turn 20, before hunting. I raised you the way she asked. With the ability to think and analyze. Believe me, she's your family.
