At the same time, he rejects the advances of Gauri, a girl from his own village, who is attracting the unwanted attention of Radha's lecherous uncle. Fate is not kind to them. Radha is married off to a man she doesn't care for and Gopi is severely beaten by thugs sent by Radha's uncle after he prevents him from molesting Gauri. Radha's husband dies suddenly and she returns home in disgrace to find her father is dangerously ill. However, the attraction between Radha and Gopi remains as strong as ever and ugly rumours start to circulate about the nature of their relationship - for which Gopi blames the jealous Gauri. Madam!

You won't leave me alone!

That's why I tell you, Gopi, to marry me!

All your problems will be solved.

I will cook for you. I will look after your children. And..

That's why I should marry you!

Why? Is this less?

You are not the only girl who knows cooking!

There are other girls too!

You won't find a better girl than me!

Get lost! Gopi! Gopi!

Tell me something. - Yes.

Why you don't want to marry me?

Am I dark or crippled?

If you had been, then I would have married you.

You mean I should become like this!

Yes! Quickly become like that! Then I will think!

Gopi!

You are telling a pretty girl to become crippled.

What did you say? Pretty girl?

Grandma, if you like her, then you marry her.

Saw that, grandma! What is he saying!

Dear, young people tend to say such things.

In old age he will come to know.

Somebody should cook for you. - Yes. And serve you. - Yes.

Grandma, are wives for this?

Don't you know that? What else are wives for?

And every wife has to look after her husband.

Then what!

So madam too must be doing it.

So what! Is madam any different?

Gauri, shut up!

Okay, Gopi! Poor madam must be facing so many hurdles.

Gopi, along with madam why didn't you too marry sir?

You would have done the household chores.

If you talk too much I will kill you!

Kill me! I have told you so many times!

I will die in your arms only.

Now tell me. Will you marry me or kill me? Get lost!

Gauri, you too nag him so much.

Can't you see his mood is bad? Still you are going on talking!

What to do, grandma? He doesn't marry me.

And he doesn't kill me.

Fine! There is enough water in Ganga!

Today I will drown in it!

I am going!

Gauri, listen! Gauri!

Gopi! - Yes!

She is really going to drown! Stop her!

Let her go, grandma! Let her go!

Gauri! Wear stones and drown!

Otherwise you will again come on the surface!

Gauri! Saw that, grandma! What has she done!

Gauri! Gauri!

Listen! Where are you going? - To drown in the river!

But the river is on this side! Why are you going there?

Why do you want to know?

I don't care. But your admirer does care. I don't have any admirer.

What are you saying, Gauri? Gopi is there.

I am dead for him. Go and tell him.

Now we both don't have any relationship.

And also tell him.. - Yes.

I am going to the jungle. I will do penance day and night.

Still I won't come back.

I see! So the matter is so serious.

Leave me! Idiot!

Leave me!

Leave me! Leave me! Leave my hand! How can I leave you? - Leave me!

You idiot! Leave me! Ruffian!

Is somebody there? Help! Help! - Nobody will help you! - Help me!

Gopi, help! - Nobody will help you! - Hey!

Wait! Just a minute! Just a minute!

One more minute!

Do you like me so much, Gopi?

I and like you?

Otherwise for me why would you have thrashed him so badly?

Look, Gauri. I have beaten him.

Now it's your turn. If you will talk nonsense then..

Get lost! You say all these things. But you do love me.

Love? - Yes. Look at your face.

I will give you a tight slap. And you will forget all love. Come on!

No! No, Gauri! Gauri, I am innocent. Gauri!

You!

You fool!

Rajjo! Rajjo!

So you gave up oaring boat and you started this business.

No. Rajjo, listen to me.

Now I came to know where you got 10 rupees everyday. Shameless!

If you came home, I will break your leg. Okay! Okay!

I don't know what she eats. She has broken my bones.

O my God! I was destined for her!

Break his hands and legs. I don't care if he dies.

It's my responsibility. Here. Go. - Come on.

O my God! O my God!

Gopi! Gopi!

Grandma! Come quickly, grandma! Yes! Coming! - Come quickly!

O my God! Oh my God! Come here! - What happened?

What happened to my child! - Now what to do..

..grandma? Gopi! Gopi!

What's the matter, Radha?

Nothing. I had a bad dream.

Such an atrocity on a nice man.

These ruffians will rot!

Grandma, all this happened because of me.

Those ruffians did this to Gopi because of me.

Now what will happen, grandma? Now what will happen?

Don't worry, dear. Gopi will get well soon.

How many days are left for Laxmi veneration?

Only 4 days.

4 days!

Will I be.. alive till then?

What are you saying! I have not committed a sin!

That I will receive such a grave punishment.

Sister! Sister!

What happened? - Very bad news.

What happened? - Son-in-law is no more.

O my God!

It's written in the telegram that last night he had high fever.

And by morning he died. - O my God!

Now what about poor Radha?

Listen!

Brother, he shouldn't know about this.

You know. He has a weak heart.

God knows what he will go through after hearing this news. Come here.

What happened?

You people were talking about telegram.

From where did the telegram arrive?

We have received news that Radha is not well.

Radha is not well! What happened?

Nothing! I mean she is feeling nauseous.

She is feeling nauseous!

I understood! I will become a grandpa.

I will become a grandpa. Right?

O my God! Why are you getting up? Rest.

I will myself go to bring my daughter.

What are you saying?

You will cover such a long journey in this state?

First boat, then horse carriage, then railway.

- And then again horse carriage.

And it's not our custom to go to the daughter's house.

Why am there for? I will go and bring Radha.

Okay. Bring her quickly. - You rest.

Now I won't send her away.

Now they both will stay with me.
